Photos until 1897: From Muybridge on

19th century in Guatemalan photography - as far as we know - started with Eadweard Muybridge in 1875. Incredible, but true, one murder helped that Muybridge appear in Central America and makes his famous Guatemalan photo collection, among other photos he did during his journey. Wikipedia says: "In 1874 Muybridge shot and killed Major Harry Larkyns, his wife's lover, but was acquitted in a jury trial on the grounds of justifiable homicide. He travelled for more than a year in Central America on a photographic expedition in 1875."

Were there any photos of Guatemala before? It can be. The research of this site will be aimed at those oldest items that might be found online.
